WATER is a Biophysical Intelligence research company. Our mission is to teach matter to respond to life: we study how the human body and the physical world respond to each other, and we build machines that sense a body, model its state, and respond in real time. CAMA, an adaptive bed, and FLOW, an adaptive chair, are the first surfaces this research runs on. The work spans three research directions: machine learning and mathematics, bio research, and materials and electronics. The long-range outcomes we care about are human longevity and human experience.
You own one or more electronics subsystems, such as the sensing front end, the power stage, or the drive electronics. You'll work on schematics, layout, bring-up, characterisation, EMC, and production.
In This Role You Will
- -Own one or more electronics subsystems from architecture through production.
- -Design schematics and drive layout for mixed-signal boards where analog and switching coexist.
- -Build and defend a noise budget. Then measure it and explain the gap.
- -Select components against cost, availability, thermal and lifetime, not headline datasheet numbers.
- -Bring up your own boards, characterise them, and write the validation report.
- -Design for EMC and safety from the schematic stage, and support the compliance campaign.
- -Work with mechanical on packaging, thermal paths and harness routing inside a moving assembly.
- -Support firmware bring-up across the hardware-software line.
What We Hope You'll Bring
- -You have designed a board that went into a product, and you debugged it yourself.
- -4+ years in electronics design.
- -Strong mixed-signal design; comfortable in {Altium, KiCad or OrCAD} through to layout review.
- -Confident with a scope, an analyser and a soldering iron.
- -You have shipped something that had to pass EMC.
- -Nice to have: high-channel-count acquisition, BLDC or stepper drive design, switching supply design, production test development.
