WATER is a Biophysical Intelligence research company. Our mission is to teach matter to respond to life: we study how the human body and the physical world respond to each other, and we build machines that sense a body, model its state, and respond in real time. CAMA, an adaptive bed, and FLOW, an adaptive chair, are the first surfaces this research runs on. The work spans three research directions: machine learning and mathematics, bio research, and materials and electronics. The long-range outcomes we care about are human longevity and human experience.

You own an embedded subsystem: motor control, sensor acquisition, or the coordination layer. You'll work on closed-loop control, acquisition timing, fault handling, hardware bring-up, and testable firmware.

In This Role You Will

  • -Own an embedded subsystem end to end — motor control, sensor acquisition, or the coordination layer.
  • -Implement closed-loop motor control: current, velocity and position loops, commutation, motion profiling, and tuning for silence.
  • -Build the sensor acquisition chain — timing, synchronisation, filtering and calibration across high channel counts.
  • -Meet hard real-time deadlines, and prove that you meet them.
  • -Implement fault detection and safe-state handling in your subsystem.
  • -Bring up new hardware alongside electronics engineers. Be there for the first power-on.
  • -Write firmware that is testable — unit tests, HIL, and instrumentation you can leave in.
  • -Review code and mentor engineers.

What We Hope You'll Bring

  • -You have written motor control or real-time acquisition firmware that shipped in a product.
  • -4+ years in embedded development.
  • -Strong C, and C++ where it earns its place. RTOS experience.
  • -You debug timing with instruments, not print statements.
  • -You have read a full reference manual for a part, at least once, on purpose.
  • -Nice to have: BLDC/PMSM and FOC, sensor fusion or state estimation, deterministic buses (CAN, EtherCAT), functional safety exposure.
